Born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Sarita Scheufens attended McNeese State University, majoring in Psychology. After a 27-year career in Banking, Scheufens is now the Chief Executive Officer for the Safety Council of Southwest Louisiana, a 501(c)3 organization with three locations in SWLA. Married to the love of her life, William Scheufens, the two enjoy time with their three children and two granddaughters.
Working at a national level for Chase, Capital One and regionally with IBERIABANK, Scheufens calls upon the multiple layers of experience she received in banking to run a successful organization. “I had a unique opportunity to diversify my skill set through training and developing programs that lifted employee talent within the firms I was part of. Professional development has always been a focus for me, the teams I’ve led and the influence I have on others.”
Centering awareness around workforce growth in Southwest Louisiana is a priority for Scheufens. She participates in several organizations that support worker development and job growth within the region. Scheufens currently holds the position of Chair for the American Job Center, Workforce Development Board. Other organizations Scheufens participates in support contractor and industrial workers, such as ABC Training Center – Pelican Chapter, Lake Area Industry Alliance – Health and Safety Committee, and she is a long-time member of the SWLA Chamber ALLIANCE Workforce Development Committee, coupling education with high demand jobs and employers.
