A Baton Rouge native, Elissa DeLoach received her bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 2012. While at LSU, she double majored in Psychology and Sociology and spent a summer abroad studying Swahili in Tanzania.
After graduation, Elissa started working at Deloach Marine Services, LLC (DMS) alongside her brother and father. DMS provides crew and towboat services for inland towing and shipping to various companies and operates a shipyard in Port Allen. At DMS Elissa is responsible for evaluating and overseeing all incident/injury claims, ensuring the company remains compliant with all industry standards and regulations, and acquiring the latest safety and efficiency trainings for all crew members.
As a member of The American Waterway Operators, Elissa has dabbled in politics and attended lobbying events in Washington, DC to advocate on behalf of the maritime industry in America. Elissa also helped found a social organization called ADMIRALTY that addresses the large age gap in the industry by giving up-and-coming members a place of their own to discuss new ideas and network.
When she’s not working, you can find Elissa at her favorite aerial fitness gym, experimenting in the kitchen, out hunting with her family, or travelling the world with her friends.
