About
Dr. Tina Tinney was appointed Chancellor of Nunez Community College in Chalmette, Louisiana, in 2018. With over 26 years of experience in teaching and administration in both 2-year and 4-year colleges as a faculty member, Dr, Tinney has served in progressively administrative roles including Dean of Health and Natural Sciences, Dean of Academic, and Vice Chancellor of Strategic Initiatives overseeing Workforce Development, Adult Education and Institutional Advancement.
Dr. Tinney earned both her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degrees from the University of New Orleans and holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University. She is an alumna of the New Orleans Regional Institute, the League of Innovations Executive Leadership Institute, and the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education. Dr. Tinney has published in the Southeast Journal of Educational Administration and the International Journal of Innovation in the Digital Economy.
Dr. Tinney has been instrumental in leading new and unique training programs; such as Aerospace Manufacturing Technology, Coastal Studies and GIS and Wind Energy Technology.
Active in the community, Dr. Tinney serves on the Executive Board of St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation, the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce, Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, Greater New Orleans, Inc and is an active member of the Isleños Cultural and Heritage Society. She is an active presenter at local, regional and national conferences on a variety of topics related to higher education, administration and leadership.
Tina has two sons, Mark and Austin and 3 granddaughters, Amelia, Audrey and Klara. She resides in Arabi, Louisiana.
